Democratic Engagement Resources

Ahead of National Democracy Week (14 to 20 October 2019), the Cabinet Office has published new and updated democratic engagement resources for young people, Secondary schools and colleges.

The resources have been designed by experts in their field; user defined and tested; and designed to be accessible and easy to use. The resources include:

Suffrage School’s Resource (13 to 16 year olds)

Women’s Suffrage: History and Citizenship resource for Schools is a collection of resources designed to inspire students to become involved in democracy and register to vote when 16. The resources have been designed by the History Association to be part of Secondary school history and citizenship lessons. It is free for schools to sign up and have access to a host of resources, lesson plans, videos and podcasts. Over 400 schools have already used the resource.

Rock Enrol! (13 to 16 year olds)

Rock Enrol! is a collection of fun, interactive activities to encourage young people to register to vote. Activities can be used by schools and colleges as a supplement to compulsory citizenship lessons and can be adapted for a variety of A-Levels. The pack includes a resource activity pack and guidance with a MENCAP amended resources and guidance for those with a learning disability.
