Lifeskills toolkit for Special Schools

A free educational resource to help prepare young people with learning disabilities for adult life.

This educational resource has been developed by KCC Trading Standards to help young people with learning disabilities in Special schools prepare for adult life. It encourages safe, independent living to reduce the risk of financial harm.

The resource consists of 12 modules, each including:

  • teacher notes
  • an easy read quiz and answer sheet for students
  • teacher score sheet and answers
  • quiz questions for use with Clicker 6 software
  • a printable Certificate of Achievement for the students.

These modules can support the delivery of ASDAN's Preparing for Adulthood programmes and entry qualifications.

Modules include:

  • age restricted products
  • community safety (PDF, 382.2 KB)
  • doorstep crime
  • food and hygiene
  • home fire safety
  • labels
  • signs and symbols
  • managing money
  • safer independent pedestrians
  • scams
  • shopper's rights
  • social media and the internet and who can help. (Cybercrime coming soon).
