Portage training in Moldova

Tracy Harvey, Kent Portage lead and Jane McHale, Portage Manager from Liverpool who are also joint vice-chairs of the National Portage Association, delivered a Portage four day Portage training course to 40 specialists working with young children with special needs in Moldova. The participants will then pilot a Portage program of home visiting across the five districts in Moldova so Portage can be integrated into the Moldovan National Education System.

The challenge was delivering the training through a translator, the feedback at the end of the four days was so positive despite the language barriers.

It was a great opportunity to be able to be part of such a great initiative for the children and families in Moldova so they will be able to have the Portage approaches that so many families really value in Kent and throughout the UK.

The training was funded through the European Union.
