Upcoming Inclusion Support Service Kent training

Information on the upcoming training from the Inclusion Support Service Kent (ISSK).

English as an Additional Language in the Early Years (West)

This training will assist Early Years Practitioners to be able to confidently support children with English as an Additional Language (EAL) in the Early Years.

The training objectives are:

  • To gain an understanding of issues related to EAL
  • To build on children's experiences of home language at home and in the wider community
  • To learn practical strategies to support the acquisition of English as an Additional language.

Recognising, dealing with and preventing racist incidents

Delegates will examine what constitutes a racist incident and examine the steps necessary to deal with it. Curriculum initiatives aimed at preventing racist incidents will also be highlighted.

The training objectives are:

  • To be able to recognise and respond appropriately to racist incidents
  • To be more confident to positively prevent discrimination through the development of whole school policy and practice.

Venue: Lenham Community Centre, Groom Way, Lenham, Maidstone, Kent, ME17 2QF
Date: Thursday 2 February 2017
Time: 9:30am-12pm
Cost: For non-buy back schools, £75 per person for half a day £130 for a whole day.

Schools and settings who have bought into the ISSK service through EduKent are entitled to book, free of charge, up to 2 people on any unaccredited ISSK course on CPD online as part of the Basic Package.

More delegates are welcome to attend but will be required to pay the full course fee.

No shows or delegates giving less than 24 hours notice will be charged 50 % of the cost. If you are unable to attend, please cancel your place through CPD online.
