Betjeman Poetry Prize 10th Anniversary

Our poetry competition is open to 10-13 year old poets from the British Isles and Republic of Ireland

The 2016 Betjeman Poetry Prize is open for entries! Our judges this year are the Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy with poet and artist Imtiaz Dharker.

1st Prize: £1000 (£500 to winner and £500 to the English department of school Winner). The winner will also be crowned St Pancras Laureate for the year!

2 runners-up: £50 each.

The top three poets each receive four standard class Eurostar tickets to Paris, Brussels or Lille.

All finalists are invited on a poetry workshop with spoken word educator Indigo Williams. The top 50 poems are printed in our 2016 anthology. The teacher who enters the most poems from their school wins a sponsored place on the MMU Teaching Creative Writing 3 day course.

Theme of ‘place’: your favourite park, building, beach or street; capture in words what that place means to you.

It's free to enter and you can submit as many poems as you wish. There is no word or line limit. You can enter online or by post to:
