Buster’s Book Club bargain

Try the proven literacy initiative Buster’s Book Club at no charge and see for yourself how excited pupils can be about reading.

For a limited time only schools have the chance to try the phenomenally successful home reading scheme Buster’s Book Club for free.

The offer is open to one class per school with absolutely no obligation to purchase the full scheme during the December sign-up period.

Buster’s Book Club helps to improve child literacy by encouraging children to read for pleasure at home. Each child is set a home reading target of a set number of minutes and then a series of challenges enthuse the children to meet or exceed their target. The one-class trial sets pupils the KM Triple Challenge comprising Reading Table of the Week, interschool reading competitions, and the Reading Millionaires’ Club.

Each week, a special Table Ted is awarded to the table in the class with the highest or most improved reading figures. Your class will also be eligible to take part in regular district and county-wide inter-school contests to win prizes including tickets to local attractions and visits from storytelling professionals or celebrities. The scheme builds to an exciting finish at the end of the academic year when you find out if all participating pupils across the county have collectively notched up enough reading minutes to become Reading Millionaires.

The free one-class trial will commence immediately upon receipt of Buster’s Book Club materials and run until December. The full Buster’s Book Club programme which requires a modest payment for each participating class operates from December for 12 months.

Simon Dolby of Buster’s Book Club said: “See for yourself how successful the scheme is at getting pupils, even disengaged boys, all fired up about reading. We are thrilled to be in a position to offer schools the chance to try the scheme for free and hope to spread a love of books far and wide by the end of the year.”

He added: “We hope that schools enjoy the benefits of the scheme over the next few months and consider signing up all their classes for the full programme in December.”
