Charity walk and scarecrow challenge

Schools can enter a competition to make the best creations for a scarecrow trail which will feature along the KM Charity Walk - and could win £150.

Booking is now open for the annual KM Charity Walk which attracts hundreds of families across the county to raise sponsorship for any good cause of their choice. The event is on Sunday 23 June 2019 and offers a 5 or 10 mile circular route starting from Grade II listed Georgian mansion Mote House in Maidstone.

Run by the KM Charity Team, this year’s walk will feature a scarecrow trail and schools are invited to create wild and wonderful scarecrows for the chance to win a cash prize. To take part, schools can register their interest by 4 April 2019, and scarecrows must be made by 17 May 2019.

The scarecrows will be positioned along the KM Charity Walk with walkers voting for their favourites to win the top prize of £150. A second prize of £100 will go to the best entry as voted for by a panel of judges.

All entries will be displayed on the Phil and Ted blog - a fun online diary written by Ted the Bear who is the KM Charity Team’s mascot and best friends with Phil ‘Mister Maker’ Gallagher.

Winners will be featured on KentOnline, the news website run by the KM Group.
