Deadline extended for Kent Teacher of the Year Awards

Schools have one last chance to put their classroom heroes in the spotlight.

There is still time to nominate an unsung colleague in the Kent Teacher of the Year Awards 2016 as the event’s organisers have extended the deadline.

Nominations for standout individuals and teams who are making a real difference to their schools will be accepted up until the final cutoff date of Tuesday, March 8.

Award categories include primary, secondary, newly qualified teacher, non teaching member of staff (such as dinner ladies and caretakers) and a volunteer award, which includes members of the PTA and governors.

The district and overall winners will be invited to an awards dinner organised by the KM Group’s charity department and staged at Leeds Castle in May.

Simon Dolby from the KM Charity Team made a final call for nominations, saying: “There is only one week to go, so please don’t delay. Nominating is very easy just fill in the short and simple online form. It’s a great way to give a colleague their moment to shine and put your school in the spotlight.”

He added: “You can put forward individuals or teams whether they are support staff, volunteers, management or teaching staff. There is a category for anyone you can think of.”

Sally Williamson of Salus, which is championing the pastoral care category, said: “Schools do an amazing job and that’s down to the teachers and staff. Teachers go way above and beyond what could be expected of them to make sure our children achieve the best possible outcomes.”

There is no limit to the number of nominations that can be submitted at www.kentteacheroftheyear.co.uk by the deadline of March 8.
