Kent County Council have renewed their subscription which provides Kent maintained schools with a huge historic film archive.

All Kent maintained schools have been given the opportunity to access the world’s most comprehensive archive of Newsreel film. From Queen Victoria’s funeral, the roaring Twenties, the first and second world wars, the original King’s Speech and into the swinging sixties. British Pathé captured all major world events as well as fascinating insights into the way we lived over the past 100 years, and Schools in Kent can view over 1000 films about Kent alone!

British Pathe is considered the finest historic film archive in the world, with 85,000 films and 12 million stills dating from 1896, it includes all the great event of the period plus a wealth of social history imagery. It is subscribed to by 1000’s of schools in the UK including both Primary and Secondary who use it in many subjects including history, media studies, design technology, drama, those schools who really embrace the service get a huge amount from it.

Schools who are not maintained by Kent County Council can apply directly to British Pathé for a subscription.
