Do you have early career teachers (ECTs) starting in September 2024?

Supporting ECTs with their induction consists of two strands.

Schools don’t have to go with the same provider for both, but they must ensure their ECT fulfils both strands for them to successfully complete induction:

  1. Sign up to an Early Career Development Programme

We are thrilled to announce that our Early Career Framework (ECF) programme will continue to be delivered in partnership with Best Practice Network (BPN) beyond July. As a leading provider of the ECF, we and BPN are proud to have recently received an Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ rating for our programme. We deliver a geographical spread of local face to face groups across Kent, led by experienced local facilitators who provide a valuable regional context to the ECF programme. The face-to-face sessions are essential for bringing together ECTs and Mentors for support, networking and the sharing of experience and best practice.

This year has been our most successful year yet, with over 100 schools in Kent participating in our ECF programme. We look forward to continuing our work with these schools and welcoming new schools to the programme from September. Please note: the programme is fully funded for all schools that meet the criteria set by the Department for Education (DfE)

Please find more information on how to register with The Education People and access the ECF programme for ECTs and Mentors joining your school

  2. Appoint an Appropriate Body to oversee the induction period (only Teaching School Hubs can offer this service from September 2024).

We work closely with the two Teaching School Hubs (TSH) in Kent:

Please contact the hubs above for more information on the support they offer as an Appropriate Body and to register your new ECTs from September. The Appropriate Body will require termly assessments on your ECTs progress throughout their induction period.  Please note that they will charge for this service.

Both TSHs also offer an ECF programme to support ECTs. However, schools do not have to use the same provider for both induction and the ECF programme. It is important for each school to choose the right ECF programme for their ECTs and Mentors.

Please get in touch if you have any queries.
