Finance Budget Planning Software
7 September 2015
Budget Planning Software (BPS) Monitoring Update.
Over the summer Schools Financial Services have been working with the developers to enhance the functionality and reports of the BPS. The software has always been able to produce basic monitoring but this has now been enhanced to better meet your school's needs. As previously notified additional training has been arranged during September for bursars. Both half day refresher training and more in depth whole day training is available and can be booked through CPD online.
It has always been acknowledged that by purchasing an 'off the shelf' product it would be different from what bursars, headteachers and governors in Kent have been used to. However, as the software is tried and tested and used successfully by many local authorities and schools, it was not anticipated that so many upgrades would be required to ensure it provided information to the detail that we are used to in Kent.
It is appreciated that it takes time to learn and be comfortable and confident when using new software, so an excel spreadsheet will also be available to do budget monitoring. If wished, this can be used alongside the BPS for this financial year only. However, it is important that the BPS is kept up to date as the information will role forward making budget setting for next year much easier. The monitoring spreadsheet will be available on Kelsi from today.
There are still further enhancements to be made to improve the software and we are continuing to work with the company to ensure these are available as soon as possible.
Thank you to all the bursars that put their names forward to be part of the BPS User Groups. We will be in contact with you after the monitoring training. In the future the User Groups will be instrumental in decisions for further enhancements to the software.
