Flood and Water Management
6 January 2025
Is your school impacted by flooding during heavy rainfall?
If your school has experienced surface water flooding in the past 3 years, KCC Flood and Water Management team would like to hear about it. We are keen to work with schools and provide advice to help manage surface water flood risk.
If you’re experiencing internal flooding, or flooding that impacts access to the school, we would like to work with you to understand the sources of the flooding and how this can be managed. Projects could be part- or fully- funded by KCC.
Please contact flood@kent.gov.uk with details of the flood incident/s, such as:
- Dates of flood
- Duration of flood (minutes, hours, days, weeks)
- Internal and/or external flooding
- Depth of water
- Suspected cause of flood (blocked ditch, runoff from agricultural land/ urban areas/ highways, failure of flood defence, watercourse, sewers, blocked drains)
- Are you a member of the governments Risk Protection Arrangement for schools? If you are a RPA member, have you reported and claimed for the flood event under the RPA?
- Did any emergency services respond to the flooding?
- Any images/videos of the water pooling
