Free books for all children in your reception classes coming soon!

Booktime, the free book gifting programme for all children in reception classes, returns this autumn with a new name: Time To Read.

Look out for your school’s Time To Read packs. They’re being delivered direct to your school by the end of October. The quantity you’ll receive matches your school's PAN figure.

Along with its new branding, Time To Read runs differently this year. The featured book hasn't been announced yet, though I’m assured it’s a brilliant and carefully chosen book, ideal for children to enjoy and share with their family. Time To Read’s focus is on parents reading with their child at home and they would be grateful if teachers don’t open the packs in class, instead sending the packs home advising the children there are important messages inside for their parents.

Time To Read is a great opportunity for schools to engage families with their child's reading development so important for your students’ development. You could invite parents in for a Time To Read book gifting session, and / or link with your local library (a fantastic source of free books and other services) and encourage everyone to get a library card and make time to read. With Children's Book Week coming soon (31 October - 6 November 2016), there’s another a great opportunity to focus on books and reading.

You can sign up as a teacher contact and get all the latest updates, as well as find out more information via
the book trust website.
