Free Summer Challenge Activities for Children and Families Arriving Soon

During the first few weeks of July, Kent Children’s University will be distributing Summer Challenge leaflets to all KS2 children.

During the first few weeks of July, Kent Children’s University will be distributing Summer Challenge leaflets to every Primary school in Kent for distribution to all Key Stage 2 children. A total of 87,000 leaflets will be distributed by the school courier service.

The Summer Challenge consists of 24 activities that children and families can work on together at either no, or low, cost. Children can choose to complete as many or as few activities as they want and they do not have to be part of Kent Children’s University to take part.

If children are part of Kent Children’s University (either through your school, if you currently operate the scheme, or by subscribing directly through Family Membership) then a certain number of Learning Credits can be earned for each activity - these will be clearly displayed for each challenge.

The Learning Credits achieved can then be used to count towards a national Children’s University award and if the child has earned sufficient Credits they will be invited to graduate at a forthcoming graduation ceremony at one of the Kent-based universities.

The Summer Challenge leaflets will clearly explain to parents/carers how Kent Children’s University works and how they can subscribe to the scheme if they wish. There will also be challenge support materials and creative ideas available via our Social Media channels throughout July and August. Parents/carers will be encouraged to post photographs of their child’s completed activities on Facebook, using the hashtag #KCUSummerChallenge, to hopefully encourage and provide inspiration for others.
