Fun Summer holiday activities for children aged 5-14 will be arriving in your school soon

The Summer Challenge provides a range of fun Summer holiday activities for children and their families to consider completing over the forthcoming holiday period.

We have been running these challenges for the last few years, which have been well received by many families.

Over the course of the next two weeks, your school office will receive Kent Children's University Summer Challenge leaflets for all Key Stage 2 children in the county. We would be grateful if you could therefore send these leaflets out in your pupils’ book bags before the start of the school holidays.

The Summer Challenge consists of 24 activities that children and families can work on together at either no, or low, cost. Children can choose to complete as many or as few activities as they want and they do not have to be part of Kent Children’s University to do so. If the children are part of Kent Children’s University (either through your school, if you currently operate the scheme, or subscribing directly through the Family Membership model) then a certain number of Learning Credits can be earned for each activity - details can be found in the leaflets. The Learning Credits earned can then be used to count towards a national Children’s University award, and if they have achieved sufficient Credits they will be invited to graduate at a ceremony at one of the Kent-based universities.

The leaflets will clearly explain the Challenge to parents/carers and present details on how they can subscribe to Kent Children’s University, if they wish. These leaflets will also direct parents/carers to our Social Media channels, including Facebook, where regular advice and suggestions for each activity will be posted throughout July and August. Parents/carers will also be encouraged to post pictures of their work with their children on Facebook; to hopefully encourage and provide inspiration for others.
