Details of the upcoming training from the Inclusion Support Service Kent (ISSK).

EAL Strategies to Accelerate Progress and Increase Access to the Curriculum in Primary Schools

Session 1 (9:30am-12:30pm) will provide strategies to ensure that your:

  • new arrivals are able to engage in learning within your classroom
  • EAL learners are accessing the curriculum
  • EAL children’s acquisition of English is accelerated.

SEN or EAL - Identifying Special Educational Needs in Children with EAL

Session 2 (1pm-3:30pm) will:

  • raise awareness of differences between EAL and SEN
  • develop an understanding of  the complexities surrounding effective identification of SEN in children with EAL
  • explore effective identification procedures.

Cost: Free to Medway LA Primary (KS2) Schools receiving Greenshoots funding and Kent schools with an ISSK SLA. All other academies, free schools, Infant, Primary and Special schools: £130

Recognising, dealing with and preventing racist incidents

Delegates will examine what constitutes a racist incident and examine the steps necessary to deal with it. Curriculum initiatives aimed at preventing racist incidents will also be highlighted.

Aims - Delegates will:

  • be able to recognise and respond appropriately to racist incidents
  • be more confident to positively prevent discrimination through the development of whole school policy and practice.
