The awards are designed to recognise best practice inside and outside the classroom, and celebrate initiatives that make a real difference to the success of the county’s schools.

Nominations are accepted from fellow teachers, management and support staff, as well as parents and pupils across the Kent region.

Schools can be awarded in a wide range of categories which span multiple styles and skills. These include Best use of art or poetry, Best School Library, Most effective use of IT to enhance writing, and Most successful program for engaging pupils with English as a second language.

All nominations must be received before the April 29 deadline and all winners will be invited to a celebratory awards evening at Hempstead House Hotel, Sittingbourne at the end of June.

Simon Dolby, chief executive at the KM Charity Team which organises the awards, said: “Schools going the extra mile to support pupils with their literacy skills are preparing them for a more prosperous adult life. The seeds must be sown throughout their education, and we think it is important to recognise those providing such services. That’s what the awards are all about. I really hope people take the time to submit a nomination.”
