Love books? Say why and win a prize

The team behind the reading reward scheme Buster’s Book Club have launched a social media campaign to get children excited about reading.

A children’s charity has launched the #BeABookLover campaign to encourage schools, children and their families to share their love of books.

The KM Charity Team are asking for people to reveal their favourite reads - and why the books hold a special place in their heart - for the chance to win family tickets to a number of Kent attractions.

The campaign aims to celebrate the fantastic printed and digital books available to inform, educate and entertain readers of all ages.

Simon Dolby, chief executive of the KM Charity Team, said: “Books can be thought provoking, emotional and excite the imagination. They can be an escape or a platform for learning. Whatever your favourite book, why not share it with the world by using the hashtag #BeABookLover when you post on social media and you could win a prize.

“Telling us what you love to read might help others to discover your literacy treasure.”

The KM Charity Team run the reading reward scheme Buster’s Book Club, which encourages pupils to spend more time at home curled up with a good book. Classes are encouraged to meet weekly reading targets, based on age group, to earn a class of the week trophy and other prizes.

Monthly inter-school competitions give pupils the chance to win prizes including books and storyteller visits.

Buster’s Book Club staff will monitor Facebook and Twitter to check on use of the #BeABookLover hashtag but also request that @KMCharityTeam be tagged in posts to help them keep track of entries.
