National Child Sexual Exploitation Awareness Day

Friday 18th March has been designated as National Child Sexual Exploitation Awareness Day.

Kent Police will be organising a range of activities to highlight the day including disrupting the activities of those believed to be engaged in CSE, surveying the public find out more about levels of awareness and visiting hotels, night clubs, taxi firms and other venues to explain our responsibilities around reporting suspicious incidents. Other partners such as health services, Kent and Medway Safeguarding Children Boards and Specialist Children’s Services are also participating.

The Child Sexual Exploitation Team and Operation Willow would like to encourage as many people as possible to mark the day. What can you do? Perhaps you could display Operation Willow posters or KSCB’s “Child Sexual Exploitation” and “Is it Love?” leaflets in your venue. They can be downloaded from the KSCB website. Perhaps you could mention it in your team meeting or daily briefing. Perhaps you could organise an event or presentation for young people or colleagues (e.g. promoting the NWG #HelpingHands social networking campaign). Perhaps you could just tell your friends and family.

A presentation from Kent Police is available on the Operation Willow page on Kelsi and can be downloaded and adapted as a resource for an assembly.
