New Wave, a brand-new educational programme from Southern Water, is excited to be launching its second module, Water Detectives!

New Wave - Water for Life - Supporting educators to explore the water cycle through a fun, detective style challenge... and interactive map!Join Southern Water characters, Waterlock Holmes and Dr Watsmarsh, as they investigate the mystery missing waterdrop, to help guide pupils through a fun and creative twist on the classic water cycle lesson.

Water Detectives explores the water cycle helping children understand where their water comes from and how it is managed in Kent along the way. Southern Water strives to enhance accessibility and inclusivity as an organisation. Therefore, these free resources adhere to nasen guidelines and are tailored to the South East region.

What’s included in the downloadable resources?

With tight links to the water cycle objectives in the primary Geography and Science curricula, resources include:

  • An online interactive map of the southern region and its counties
  • A lesson Powerpoint presentation that guides pupils through their investigation
  • An evidence file, specific to your region which includes witness statements, a local printable map and water cycle diagram
  • Case report template for pupils to record their water cycle discoveries in a fun, lift-the-flap comic style report.

New Wave are also offering the first 100 schools to download the Water Detectives resources two free water cycle posters!
