New Youth Courses from Mid Kent Mind

As the school season continues in full swing, Mid Kent Mind are offering a range of courses to support young people with their mental health and wellbeing.

The three courses outlined below are delivered in partnership with Youth Resilience UK and are open-access for any young person who feels as though they may benefit from attending the course. If you have any questions about any of the courses below, please email mindhelp@midkentmind.org.uk.

Tackling My Teens

Tackling My Teens is a five week course which aims to explore the topics which are most relevant to young people today - providing them with the tools and the knowledge to prepare for their teenage years and the transition into adulthood.

Topics explored as a part of this course included Mental Health, Sleep, Study Skills, Next Steps In Education, Conflict Resolution and Peer Pressure - providing young people with a safe space where they can develop their understanding of these topics and ways they can manage and cope with them in proactive ways which benefit their wellbeing.

Our virtual sessions start in November - with spaces for ages 11 to 18. Sessions are available free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis.

Mind The Knife

Mind the Knife is a five-week programme which provides a safe space and time for young people to explore how they can keep themselves safe without breaking the law or getting involved in forms of criminality.

The programme takes on a resilience-driven focus - encouraging young people to build and develop positive coping strategies which will help to boost both their self-esteem and their confidence, leading to an improved self-image. The key aim is to build broader understanding of how poor wellbeing can lead to young people falling into crime, allowing us to pre-emptively educate young people on how important emotional resilience is when it comes to responsible decision making.

Sessions are free and are available to young people between the ages of 12 and 16. Sessions take place virtually on Zoom.

Mindful of Crime

Mindful of Crime is a six-week programme which has been developed by Youth Resilience UK with the aim of reducing vulnerability, crime and risky behaviours to help develop resilient young people who can manage their emotions, behaviours and relationships in a safe, healthy and respectful way.

Over the six-week duration of the course, topics explored will include Resilience Conflict Resolution, Knife Crime Prevention, Drug Harm Awareness and much more. The key aim from these sessions is to provide a safe space and time where young people can talk about and actively learn about topics which they may not otherwise have the opportunity to learn about - growing their confidence and increasing their knowledge as they enter adulthood.

All sessions are available free of charge, with sessions available for young people between the ages of 12 and 16.
