Nominate inspiring colleagues by Sunday

Last chance to shine a light on your top teaching and support staff by putting them forward for a Kent Teacher of the Year Award.

Schools have until noon on Sunday 1 March to submit nominations for the 20th anniversary Kent Teacher of the Year Awards and thank their unsung heroes.

Entries are welcome from anyone associated with a Primary, Secondary, Special School or College - such as teachers, support staff, volunteers, parents and students.

A wide range of categories will recognise teaching staff who support and enthuse their students; office staff who contribute so much behind the scenes; senior leaders who motivate and drive performance; volunteers from reading helpers to PTA members whose dedication makes such a difference; and teams who pull together to achieve greatness.

A panel of judges will select winners for each local authority and the results will be announced at a prestigious awards dinner at the Ashford International Hotel in May. There are top prizes on offer in addition to a limited edition trophy for each overall champion deemed the best in the county for their category.

The panel will include representatives from Kreston Reeves, Kent Further Education, Kape HR, KCS, The Education People, Loop CR, Streetspace, Canterbury Christ Church University, Diggerland, University of Greenwich, Salus, Three R’s Teacher Recruitment, Specialised Sports Products and Thinking Schools Academy Trust.

Stuart Gardner, Chief Executive of Thinking Schools Academy Trust, said: “I would urge everyone to take a moment to think of a colleague that’s inspired them, and go to the Kent Teacher of the Year website to submit a nomination.”

The awards were created to celebrate excellence and showcase schools that are helping students to fulfil their academic and personal potential. The event is one of several initiatives by the KM Charity Team to support schools, share best practice, and ultimately give young people the knowledge and motivation for better futures.

Following the awards ceremony, a booklet featuring details of the winners will be available for free download from the awards’ website.

For more information, or to nominate, visit the Kent Teacher of the Year website before the 1 March deadline.
