Persuasive pupils could win a prize

A children’s charity has launched a competition this term to find a pupil with the ‘write’ stuff. The challenge is to pen the best handwritten letter to a friend and the winner will take the helm of Whitefriars shopping zone in Canterbury for a day.

The competition is run by the KM Charity Team who run literacy and green travel services for schools including Buster’s Book Club and Active Wow (Walk on Wednesday). To enter, Primary school children must write a letter to their best friend persuading them to join in the walk to school.

Entries should be handwritten on a special activity sheet called ‘The Power of Persuasion’ available for download at the KM Charity Team website

Submissions will be judged on creativity, persuasiveness, awareness of the benefits of green travel, and quality of handwriting.

The winner will become the boss of one of the county’s biggest shopping areas. They will get VIP access to shops including Game, Tiger and not forgetting the toy department of Fenwick’s - plus a variety of fun tasks to complete on the day.

Schools have until the end of this term to sign up to Buster’s Book Club and have everything in place to start the scheme in the New Year. The popular home reading scheme sets weekly and monthly competitions to win prizes including trophies, books, tickets to leisure attractions, and storyteller sessions from celebrities including CBeebies stars Phil ‘Mister Maker’ Gallagher and Joanna Adeyinka-Burford from The Let’s Go Club.
