Primary PE and Sports Grant 2017-18 Academic Year allocations update

The Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) has notified the Local Authority (LA) of an increase to the Primary PE and Sports grant funding rates for the 2017-18 academic year.

We expect to publish the school level breakdown of funding for the academic year 2017-18, including conditions of grant, in November 2017. The funding for the period September 2017 to March 2018 will be included in the November School advances.

The allocations for the academic year 2017-18 will be calculated by the ESFA using the number of pupils in year groups 1 to 6, as recorded in the January 2017 census, as follows:

• Schools with 16 or fewer eligible pupils receive £1,000 per pupil.
• Schools with 17 or more eligible pupils receive £16,000 and an additional payment of £10 per pupil.
