RBT Bridge Works Exhibition and Engineering Workshop

A story of the Rochester Bridge Trust has moved to Tonbridge Castle and to celebrate, we are inviting schools to attend our free workshops.

The Rochester Bridge Trust (RBT) are excited to invite your children to take part in a free, interactive event we are hosting at Tonbridge Castle: a tour of the exhibition hosted by Play on Words Theatre and hands-on bridge building activities for up to 30 children, from Key Stage 2.

The Rochester Bridge Trust has provided and maintained crossings of the River Medway for more than 600 years - including contributing to the Great Bridge at Tonbridge - but there is still much that remains unknown about the organisation among the general public, as visitors to the Bridge
Works exhibition have been discovering. The exhibition tells just a small part of the history of one of the country's oldest charities.

The Bridge Works exhibition itself runs from 4 May 2019 to 31 January 2020, but the hosted workshops are available on the following dates:

  • 3 July 2019
  • 3 October 2019
  • 30 October 2019
  • 28 November 2019.

Entry is usually through paid access to Tonbridge Castle, but a discount voucher can be downloaded at the RBT Bridge Works website, and educational groups are invited to attend the activity mornings at no cost.

If transports is required, it may be possible to offer a small grant towards such costs. Please do contact us for more information.
