Relationships and Sex Education research

Claudia Stevens, Trainee Educational Psychologist and ex secondary school teacher, is recruiting participants for their thesis.

Claudia is recruiting participants for their thesis titled "What do school staff perceive to be the challenges in implementing the new Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) curriculum and how can schools overcome these?"

They are looking for teachers employed at a secondary school in Kent, who have been involved in the teaching and/or planning of the new RSE to complete a short survey. Participants can also volunteer to take part in an interview.

The potential benefits to your school are as follows:

  • The survey is an audit tool developed by the experts in the field, Sex Education Forum, for schools to identify strengths and areas of need in their practice. Therefore, completing this will enable the improvement of practice.
  • This data will contribute to a wider understanding of the challenges schools face when implementing RSE, likely to inform support for schools.
  • The interview will draw on approaches that help participants to reflect on their successes and how they can be more successful. This aims to empower and motivate participants to further improve RSE implementation.

If you would like your school to participate, please forward the Relationships and Sex Education survey to the appropriate staff members.
