Years 12 and 13 are the emerging drivers and young passengers of the future, but they also form one of the most vulnerable groups of road user.

This Young Driver and Passenger course is offered free of charge to all establishments that offer post 16 education and can be facilitated by your staff.

Focusing on the main causation factors for the crashes… we hope to empower young people to choose safer driving and passenger behaviour.

Every Step - Road Safety advice for parents and carers and teachers

Teaching children pedestrian road safety skills is an important part of growing up and becoming independent, safer road users.

As parents and carers, it is our duty to ensure the safety of all children, using road safety as a life skill.

It is not possible for Kent Count Council to deliver practical pedestrian sessions in person to each and every child in the county, but with these videos and resources, we can help everyone to become a safer pedestrian in a fun and safe way.

In these videos and information sheets you can find all the details you need to help you to teach your children key pedestrian road safety skills.

Walking Buses

There are many benefits to a school with a walking bus - they can promote exercise, health and wellbeing; reduce traffic around schools; improve punctuality; and teach road safety skills. Contact the Safer Active Journeys team to find out how to set up a walking bus for your school by emailing SmallSteps@kent.gov.uk. You can also find out more and listen to interviews with some of the existing volunteers who run a walking bus.
