School Workforce Census

The annual School Workforce Census is due on 7 November.

The School Workforce Census (SWC) is an annual statutory requirement set by the Department for Education. It is a collection of data about each member of teaching and support staff working in your school.

The census is Thursday 7 November and Kent LA maintained schools will need to upload their file to Management Information (MI) through Perspective Lite on Friday 8 November for processing.

Useful information to help you prepare and submit your statutory return to MI (Kent LA maintained schools) or directly to the DfE (non-maintained schools) can be found on the School Workforce Census page and the information includes:

  • Links to the DfE guidance and analysis
  • Contact Information
  • Useful documents
  • Information for Academies.

Our SWC pages on Kelsi have useful links and information to help you fulfil your statutory obligation. The pages also contain information on how to contact EIS (SIMS) if you are a customer and a link to their information notices (you will need to be a customer to log in).

If you are an academy or will be converting to academy status before the census day then please refer to the School Workforce Census information for academies page. You will not be able to submit your SWC file through MI and these pages have useful links and contact information to help you.
