Social Worker of the Year Award shortlisting

The North Kent Children in Care team have been shortlisted for the Social Worker of the Year Award.

The North Kent Children in Care team (NK CIC) is one of the many teams in KCC that have the privilege of providing services to some of the most vulnerable children placed in the Local Authority care - Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children (UASC).

The North Kent Children in Care team are very proud to see how their work with Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children developed from crisis management to empowering children and young people to build personal resilience, support personal growth, community integration and not least ensure that the services provided to them fulfil the LA’s statutory obligations.

The team of Social Workers and Social Work Assistants demonstrated empathy and professionalism when dealing with a range of complex issues including trauma and social isolation. They have taken these challenges in their stride and worked in partnership with other KCC departments, Police, Borough Councils, voluntary and statutory services to improve the outcome for Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children.

The team are very honoured that they have been shortlisted for a Social Work Award.
