Upcoming programmes from the Kent and Medway Leadership Forum
19 March 2015
Come along to our events and have your say on the future of school leadership in Kent.
Kent & Medway Leadership Forum is a group run by Headteachers to coordinate and develop leadership programmes and support succession planning across the County. It is a group designed to bring together programmes run by all providers, for all schools, whether part of teaching school alliances, involved with KAH directly or part of the wider family of school collaborations, in order that we ensure equity of access to high quality development opportunities for all staff. As such it brings together leaders from KMTSN, KAH, MK+, and the LA to help develop high quality future leaders within our schools.
The Forum is supporting the Strategic Review of Leadership in Kent being undertaken by CfBT and we look forward to meeting you at the 4 consultation events being held across the County in the coming weeks. This is a real opportunity to get your voice heard on the current state and more importantly the future of, school leadership in Kent and we urge you all to attend.
These will be on:
- West: 23 March 9-1pm – Mecure Maidstone Great Danes
- North: 23 April 9-1pm – Swanley Banqueting
- South: 13 May 2-6pm – The Mecure Hythe Imperial Hotel
- East: 16 June 9-1pm – The Best Western (Coniston Hotel)
In addition the Forum is supporting the latest two programmes coming out of NCTL funding, run through KMTSN, one for aspiring middle (colleagues in their first few years of teaching) and another for aspiring Heads (colleagues ready for Headship within 12-18 months).
Consequently, we are looking for 20 "Rising Stars" from within our schools
Each programme will be built around the individuals personal strengths and will use a coaching and mentoring approach to their development and will be seen as a stepping stone to future school and system leadership.
The Aspiring Heads programme (PDF, 308.2 KB) will focus on practical elements such as interview skills alongside personal and reflective elements such as psychometric testing and internships to develop leadership understanding.
The Aspiring Middle Leaders programme (PDF, 26.5 KB) will be based around coaching and internships which look to support individuals to develop leadership skills in a new context. This, supported by coaching within the host school and from yourselves 'back at base' will equip these future leaders to rapidly be ready to start their journey into school leadership.
These programmes are both personalised, rather than 'content driven' and what we need you to do is to 'spot the talent' in your schools and support it by supporting colleague's applications.
Schools involved in the programme will be assisted with costs through funding to help cover the cost of supporting internships and mentoring
