Young Epilepsy Project

Young Epilepsy's Big Lottery funded project has now ended but the charity will continue to provide support to families in Kent affected by the condition.

Young Epilepsy have been delivering the Connect Project in Kent for the last 3 years. In that time Sameera Abu-alia has supported over 100 Children and Young People with Epilepsy and their families and we have been delighted with the outcomes from the project and positive feedback we have received. The Big Lottery funding which supported the project has now run out; however as a charity we have plans to extend the work we do into the rest of the UK and we are busy seeking further funding. We are pleased to say that we have managed to extend Sameera’s contract for another 6 months until September.

Referrals to Sameera can continue as normal, but she will be working remotely in most cases i.e. supporting families over the phone, through Skype, emails etc.

We know that if we are to expand our reach to the whole UK, this is the approach we will need to take, and the next 6 months will give us an opportunity to trial different ways of working.

If you have any students with epilepsy that you think could do with additional help, or if you have queries about this, please get into contact with Sameera or Chris Denyer, Partnerships and Outreach Manager at Young Epilepsy.
