The Road Safety Experience from the Kent Fire and Rescue Service

The Road Safety Experience has just completed its first full year of operation and is welcoming further visitors for 2017/18.

We have been visited by students from across the county in large numbers and from all corners of Kent and the South-East.

For those of you who are new to the project, it’s a road safety centre designed for students over the age of 14 to come and learn about their part in why road traffic collisions happen, how they can be avoided and give them the tools to change their behaviours currently and in the future.

The centre is fully interactive with all learning styles catered for and delivered by a team of qualified Road Safety Officers who happen to be operational firefighters at the same time, thus giving the visitors both educational and personal accounts of the effects Road Traffic Collisions (RTC) have.

The centre is broken up into zones covering the subjects of Distraction, Crash Investigation (delivered by Kent Police), Responsibilty and Awareness, as well as giving other areas of advice around first aid, seatbelt demonstration and hazard perception.

Lastly, an important thing to note is that a visit to the centre is free for the students and we can cater from 10 to 90 at a time. Visits can be booked for four hours or two-and-a-half hours.

Get your school booked in and help raise road safety awareness among your students and demonstrate your commitment to safeguarding their future on our roads.
