Young Cooks entry easy for Secondary pupils

Students can enter the county’s official cookery contest for schools using recipes prepared as part of their schoolwork.

Secondary school pupils who are keen to enter Young Cooks needn’t worry about the competition leaving them with too many pots on the hob.

The contest allows them to use recipes they have created for lessons in school so there is no need for any duplication or extra work.

Competition organiser Maxine Tarquini said: “Students who are already groaning under the weight of their studies can rest assured that entering Young Cooks will not add extra obligations to their already packed schedules.

“They can simply submit recipes prepared in class, making the competition as easy and stress-free as possible.”

Young Cooks is organised by children’s educational charity the KM Charity Team and is open to young people aged six to 19. Entrants must prepare healthy and delicious dishes, photograph the meals, and upload images plus recipe details to the Young Cooks website

Teachers or guardians can assist entrants in completing the simple online entry form by the deadline of midnight on Wednesday 7 November.

The best entries will secure a place in an exciting MasterChef-style final at East Kent College in Broadstairs. There are cash prizes for Primary school, Secondary and family category winners, with £200 going to the overall champion.

Early next year, the overall champion will take on head chef duties for a morning at The Dog in Wingham. There he or she will prepare their signature dishes for a VIP luncheon of guests including the Young Cooks judging panel and category winners.
