Youth Travel Ambassador programme

The Youth Travel Ambassador (YTA) is a Road safety programme aimed at Key Stages 3 to 5. We deliver to Schools,PRUs and youth groups across Kent.

YTA is a very exciting new initiative. Kent County Council’s Road Safety Team have launched a new project-based workshop for young road users. The Teen Road User programme is a completely virtual journey looking at road safety, how peers influence decision making and how they can encourage safer choices.

Road safety is an issue for many young people especially travelling to and from school or clubs. This programme has helped young people to become more aware of road safety issues within their communities. This project is young people lead giving the student we worked with a real of sense empowerment and a sense of achievement.

This programme assists students to explore road user data relating to their environment and recognize where their road user experience could be improved. Whether this is improving bus behaviour, reducing parent parking outside school or that your students want to enhance cycling facilities… the issue they choose, is their issue to find achievable solutions for.

  • This programme is completely Free to Kent schools and youth clubs it can be aim at any year group within secondary schools.
  • It has been created by teachers and road safety professionals.
  • It meets the PSHE Health and Wellbeing core themes and has many more cross curricular links.
  • Your young people can design and start their own campaign.

We want all young people of secondary school age across Kent to be able to access this programme therefore our programme can be adapted to suit the needs of the young people. This programme can be offered Virtually or in person. This can be done over six weeks a drop-down day or offered as a assembly.
