Sutton Trust Toolkit and 10 Steps to Success

Practical Pupil Premium Strategy toolkits containing advice and guidance, prompts, proformas and exemplars - available here

The Sutton Trust Toolkit provides guidance for teachers and schools on how to use their resources to improve the attainment of disadvantaged pupils. The Toolkit currently covers over 30 topics, each summarised in terms of their average impact on attainment, the strength of the evidence supporting them and their cost. It has been recommended by the Department for Education, Ofsted and the headteachers’ associations as a valuable resource in prioritising pupil premium spending.

Download a summary of the range of strategies covered by the toolkit (DOCX, 19.8 KB).

For more detailed information please go to the Sutton Trust website

10 Steps for Success (DOCX, 20.1 KB) is plan developed by Sir John Dunford, the national Pupil Premium Champion until 2014. The methodology sets out a process to help schools decide on the optimum strategies and to maintain efficient and effective use of Pupil Premium funding over time. With thought and planning on the part of a school, this money really can make a difference to the lives of disadvantaged children.
