The key messages of the Autism Education Trust
Vision
Our vision is a world where all autistic children and young people experience a positive education that supports well-being.
Mission
Our mission is to empower the education workforce and support them in securing a positive education that supports well-being for all autistic children and young people.
The key message of the Autism Education Trust (AET) is:
- Autism is a difference not a deficit - The AET approaches autism as a different way of being rather than as a ‘deficient’ or ‘disordered’ way of being.
- We value the strength that comes with embracing neurodiversity and working in partnership with a network of autism education specialists, autistic people, parents of autistic children, academies and education professionals.

Hear from our Young Expert's Panel on the impact autism can have on the ability to learn.
At the AET, we believe that autism is a difference not a deficit.
We want to promote wider understanding that autistic people have strengths and differences in three key areas of development.
"So much information that is normally assumed is already known about autism was broken down and made so much clearer as to the roots of the behaviours shown by some children. I will definitely take this into practice."
