Shared Voices
Each child's situation is different and families often have varied ideas of how their child or young person will or should use their AAC (Alternative Augmentative Communication).
In addition to Assessment, Consultation and Training, the KM CAT service offers additional support through Shared Voices. At the point a referral is accepted by our service, parents and carers will be invited to join the group.
Shared Voices is a special part of our service that brings together parents and carers of AAC users, offering support after equipment has been introduced and the opportunity to:
- Meet in a safe and supported environment
- Share experiences
- Get informal additional advice and support from KM CAT practitioners.
Shared Voices group meetings are scheduled throughout the academic year and aims to support parents and carers in getting to know their child's communication aid in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere over a cup of coffee.
